Like 2-n-d-pink said, take the intercooler off and look at the throttle butterflies to verfiy that they are closed.
I had the brake booster line off (large vacuum leak) and the car only revved to 3900 rpm.
Maybe your damper or thermal wax is sticking.

how the hell would a vacuum leak cause the engine to automatically go to 9000?? if there was a leak that big the engine would not even try to start. in my experiences vacuum leaks only cause the car to be unstable at low RPM, meaning the owner would have to up the idle to make it stable.
It has to be the throttle body. if your car was otherwise healthy idling at say 800RPM... and you gave it the amount of gasoline required to rev to 9000RPM... it would stall so fast your head would spin.
This being said... I have never worked on forced induction motors before, so it may be a turbo issue.

the cause could be lots of things. When you inspect them just grab where the throttle cable or TPS conncect to the throttle butterfly's and see if you can move them or if they stick or are totally stuck. They could be poorly lubricated, there coule be something blocking them from closing both inside or outside the throttle body.
Good luck

The TB is designed to work dry. As in no lubricant. You can try spraying WD40 on it if its frozen but you should just tear it apart and clean up any corrosion present.

yet again another helpful post written by RETED.
like the other people already posted, i would check the throttle body cable and the butterflys.
my 7 did the same thing and it was the throttle cable, it got wrapped around the out side of the linkage. its kinda hard to see but its on the back of the intake.
