Acceleration/RPM slipping?

Hey all, when I am driving in higher gears, and I push on the pedal even slightly more spirited than normal driving, my RPM's shoot up like no other, but my engine does almost nothing, and then finally they drop back down - and then the engine kicks in and so does the speed.

What is causing this? What can I do about it?

Could be your clutch slipping, or a clutch if it's an auto. Auto or manual? And how are you sure the engine isn't doing anything different when the tach jumps?

It's a manual, and the engine just kinda gets louder, but it doesn't seem like it's producing any more power than it was, until the RPM's drop back and it feels like it catches again...

New clutch? Alright, I'll need to find out how much that is... Joy.

Will the problem just keep getting worse? Or is it kinda at a plateau of crappyness already?

Yea, what they said. It gets worse, and eventually, (plays scary music) it will go out all together and you wont be going anywhere. But seriously, replace it as soon as possible.

yup...... i have the same problem. I have a 6 puck stage (-)3 xtd ebay clutch in my na trans backing a t2 engine. It lasted 6 thousand miles. Clutch slips out of nowhere then gets really bad fast. I am putting an act in the na trans. Then when i am finished i am going to the indian spot and ordering tandori chicken extra spicy. I am gonna save up all my ****, and poop that water grossness into the xtd box which i still have along with whats left of the clutch. I am then mailing it back to the company. No bullshit. Just my ****. Literally. **** xtd.
