Acceleration issue!

I have my 86 rx7 with a recently put in 1990 engine due to the old engine going bust on me. its stock and i have found the acceleration is very slow getting 0-60 km/h but after that will accelerate fine. what could be causing it to be so slow and what can i do to give it more power?? I'm not very technically advanced and I admit i don't know a lot. I'm on here to learn and any help is greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Chris McLean

How was the S5 engine installed? S5 block with S4 front cover/manifolds/electronics? Or were S5 electronics and wiring adapted to the car?
