abs-less driving?
i think ABS and TCS were taken out of F1 this past year or something
anyway, ive never heard mine actually work and the light comes on every once in a while, so i've considered removing the assembly but someone said that it was almost impossible

no, i havent
i'm not exactly sure what i should be looking for. i know how the ABS in my mother's new yorker feels, because I used it this past winter while i was carless and we had some great fun in the snow. it made this whirring sound and the brakes would fight my foot it seemed.
never felt the rx do anything like that before though

Take off the abs if you're not the type of driver to slam on your brakes everytime you see someone's brake lights come on. It's pretty simple, if you feel like you're going to come to a quick stop - TAP THE HELL OUT OF YOUR BRAKES BUT DON'T SLAM ON THEM so you don't lock up your wheels. Other than that, WEIGHT REDUCTION! HAHAHA
I actually prefer non-ABS cars. I suppose in inclimate weather situations (I.E- Snow) the ABS is helpfull, but from a performance standpoint, I dont are for it. I like to decide what my brakes do, not let the car do it for me.
I dont have ABS on my 91 coupe and could not tell the difference in driving another car. Thing is I had to check the FAQ to see if I had it because I know I have the ABS fuse slot in my engine bay but no fuse there.
Just curious though but does ABS require a certain speed while slamming on the breaks for it to work? And when does the ABS know when to release the tires? Is it only after it comes to a complete stop?

I learned to drive without ABS. I thought everybody knew threshold braking until later on. I don't know how, but I can tell exactly how hard I can push my brakes at any given time. I have had to do some crazy stops, but never have I locked a wheel. I have heard some of my tires begin to squawk in protest upon braking, but never enough to cause one to lock.
Non-ABS cars are better for snow and ice too. ABS just extends the stopping distances unnecessarily on ice and gravel.
But the advantage that ABS has is that you can stompon the brakes like a total jackass without even giving one thought about it, and you will still execute the most perfect stop on the face of the earth, all while still being able to steer with full capability. That is something that even the racing world can appreciate.
But I prefer my non-ABS. Just a personal preference.

Are you sure??? The anti-lock brakes were not available on any 'vert sold in North America, and it would require serious work to install it on a non-ABS wired car.

No, I said "Not that I have it on my '88 vert..."
Keep one thing in mind. As all the "expert" drivers can really tell just about when the brakes are going to lock up, it's very difficult to keep one wheel from locking up in a heavy turn and when a great deal of weight is removed from a particular wheel. Example, hard right turn at maximum speed, heavy braking, right wheel extemely light. Also, if a caliper is slightly different on one wheel, the ABS will adjust for that deficiency under heavy braking. I've only had mine come on a couple of times the entire time I've had the car (Bumpy road-Panic stop)
My .02 cents

A guy I know with a TII, just took his ABS controller out from under the hood and where the controller used to be he just had the stock metal brake line.
MY ABS fuse was missing when I got the car, and I think I will keep it that way.

i get a lot of snow around here, and iv never had a car with abs. if your 7's abs is broken, mazdatrix has the pumps for really cheap, somthing like $2,000+

Quite a few pumps leak which ruin the paint in the engine bay in no time. Plus it clutters everything up.
