About to start motor w/ rebuilt intake (lube concern)

So we spent all weekend (ALL weekend) putting the top of this motor (13B) together. We wrapped up at 4am Tuesday morning with just the computers (ECU and CPU) waiting to be thrown in.

We're concerned about something, though. The motor has been sitting for months. Everything above the rotor housings had been yanked and was sitting in the back seats. We put it all back together, properly. And the motor was hit with ATF when it was stored.

But, when we go to fire it up tonight, all of the OMP lines will be empty. We're going to put pre-mix in the gas and squirt some more ATF into the spark plugs holes.

But we're worried that for a brief time, between when the ATF gets spit out/used up and the OMP charges/pre-mix arrives the chambers will have no lubrication and the seals and chamber walls will start chewing each other up...

Is this a reasonable concern and what can we do to cover ourselves and keep the internals lubed while the engine is turning over and trying to find its feet?

Thanx in advance!

dont worry about it, just start it. i dont think OMP injects much at idle anyways

i would take egi fuses out and spin over until oil pressure guage goes up. that will get the bearings nice and lubricated

Got it. And I was given recent advice about pre-charging the oil sys by cranking the engine by hand...

Originallly posted by SaabGuy a while ago...
remove plugs

put any oil in there that burns 100% clean

turn engine over by hand for like 5 minutes (or use small tool)

Pull EGI fuse and crank engine with the car floored until you see 30-45 psi of oil on the stock guage. This will raise your oil pressure and prime the oil metering lines (flooring does this, only on S4).
..but we aren't having much luck with hand cranking. She doesn't really want to turn...

But, yes, thank you for the advice ( ya don't have ta tell ME six times!) We'll hit it and send you the bill.

Any other advice on startup after an engine transfer? I don't want to destroy this motor (I can't afford a new one), and have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
