about to buy electric fan need suggestion's
Has anyone ever done a group buy on a koyo or fluidyne radiators? Im not sure how everything is setup, im pretty interested, as im sure a lot of other people are as well. Maybe one of the mods could find out what sort of intrest there is and possibly setup a group buy? I dunno, just a thought.

About 5 years ago I saw a group buy on Fluidyne's, but delivery was way long for some reason, I ended up paying a higher price elsewhere just to get one. Recently, I just picked up another one for $465 shipped. I think my first one cost me $549.....plus shipping.....

There are a lot of fans on the market, but I have always had good luck with GM fans you find on Pontiac 6000s, Oldsmobiles, etc. They are a dime a dozen, are fairly reliable, and fit perfectly on the rad. No reason to pay $250+ for a fancy aftermarket fan when the components used are just as terrible as what you get from the OEMs. Might as well go to the wreckers and pay $10 for the same thing instead.

if you want cheap and effective get a 91-96 ford escort efan. Comes with 3 wires and 3 speeds. Medium speed will do just fine. And it fits on the stock rad like it was made for it. It will not keep the car cool enuff if you have a FMIC. And these can be found at any bone yard for 20 bucks

Flex a Lite has a new, bigger version of the 150 out.
Its called the xtreme 180.. It will cover the ENTIRE radiator, unlike the 150 that only covers about 2/3 of it...
I ahd a 150 on my TII with a Koyo Rad and an FMIC... the 150 couldn't keep up... the FMIC and the e-fan only covering half the rad just didn't work.
If i go E-Fan again its going to be a 180 OR....
Vintage Air also makes a "Monster Fan", which, in combo with one of their shrouds (68 camaro i think fits perfect) will pull 3700 CFM...... Might try that.

i have the stock clutch fan with no shroud and my temp never goes above the low temp line in summer heat and traffic, id say the stock stuff works nice enough.
but the guy before me took out the thermostat because he over heated the motor and now it doesnt over heat or get hot at all. i dont know if thats good to be so cold but things seem to work fine.

I sent a PM to '91 a couple of days ago with some of my complaints about my current e-fan which is a Zirgo 16". Supposedly pulls 3000 cfm. But, it has no shroud and sitting in traffic in central f#ckin FL in the summer, my temp guage has started to creep up a little. I finally figured out the importance of the shroud. On the freeway (which is where I do most of my driving), the shroud doesn't make that much difference because so much air is being pushed through the front of the FC, but sitting idle, it makes a big difference!
That link to Summit for the monster fan shows it being $269...and has the dimensions listed. Here's a fan I bought on Ebay this morning for $89, compare the dimensions of the ebay fan with that of Summit's monster fan. Sounds about the same. Anyway, I'm going to get this one mounted as soon as I get it (then turn around and sell my Zirgo on Ebay) I'll write this up, take pics and post it all when I get done.

Yeah.. but, if you don't wanna go junkyard diving.... gotta pay the man..
the 180 is 269 from summit
But, its much bigger and draws more air that the 150.. you can get the vintage air monster fan for $259, it draws 3700 cfm!!!
but the shroud is extra and bumps the total up to about $310The also have a 2700 CFM fan and shroud for 289 that covers the entire radiator..

I think for any of these fans... you'd best have a third gen altenator and be idling your car at about 900+ to keep the alt puttin out enough juice!!!!! A good battery is also a must!!

Just an interesting rhetorical statement: it's considered bad practice to bring an ancient thread back to life, but it's also considered bad practice to start a new thread about something that has already been covered in an ancient thread.
On topic, RotaMan compiled this electric fan chart: http://howto.globalvicinity.com/gv_w...=132&co=1&vi=1
The cool thing about it is, since it's on the GV pages, anyone can add their own fan to the table so we can make it comprehensive and as helpful as possible. If you add your fan, make sure you're positive about the CFM and amp draw.

Thanks Steve!
Like Steve said, if you personally tested the fan and you know for a FACT what the AMP draw is and not, "it pulls about 15amps". Please add it to the table.
The CFM rating on the fan I guess we may just have to go by what the maker says it is, trying to figure that out without the proper equipment is near impossible. So when you post your fan. DO NOT give the CFM rating unless you have proof such as the makers website or spec sheet saying thats what it is.
