aaah the pleasant sound of grinding gears, pls help
so i've developed this problem in the last few weeks, and by weeks i mean probably closer to a month but i have been lazy and such. When i down shift from 4th to fifth i sometimes grind the gears and when i shift from 3rd to 2nd i almost always grind the gears, i would get this checked up on but i am strapped for cash,(brake calipers are expensive) i thought maybe a release bearing in the clutch but figured i'd ask you guys before taking it in to be inspected and ultimatly fixed, so please help i don't want to mess it up anymore that it already could be. thanks

first try replacing the tranny fluid with Redline brand gear oil. This may help alot if not eliminate most of the grinding. Otherwise your synchros may be shot and need to be replaced-transmission needs to be torn apart to do this.

Be carefull when using redline products, I was told that the MTL would be enough for my 91 NA. I have had the same grinding problem twice (on different trans), they both broke 1 weel later after replacing the regular stuff with redline MTL. If you do replace the tranny fluids with redline, at least use MT90....just my experience.
In case your wondering why 2 tranny, well I have a Bronze disc.
