92 Rx-7

Ok I am new to the RX-7 world, and I live in Japan. I just bought a 92' RX7 which I heard was only made in Japan. So this should be considered a 2nd Gen right?
I was trying to look for parts but all you find are 91's or 93's which is interchangeable with the 92 or am I just up a creek here. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

Jake

Does your VIN have "FC3S" in it or "FD3S" in it?

There were 92 Coupes (FD3S) and 92 Convertibles (FC3C) models in 92. Which do you have?

The FC3S (coupe) stopped production late 7/91 and was only available as a 91 model.

Any 92 should still be considered an FC because it still retains the square body lines & 13bt engine

now if it had the 2nd gen body with a 3rd gen engine....or vice versa....that would be a pickle!!

Mark i was unaware that Mazda produced a 92' convertable. this deems to be quite interesting. I was always under the impression that the 92's were just left over models from the previous year that Mazda was trying to get rid of to make room for the FD. I guess we learn something new every day.

How many 92' FC3C's were produced? less than that of the GTU's?

Huh??? You do know that the FD started production in 12/91 as a 92 model in Japan?

http://www.mazda.co.jp/history/rx7/J...Year/9112.html

And the FC3S stopped production in 8/91.

ugajake,

-just curious since you're in Japan and '92's were/are in Japan, why the difficulty locating parts?

Its an FD3S, so that would a 91? right... althougth it looks like a third gen Anfini Dont know if that will help And to answer RunningDeer's Question:

Well on the Mainland it easy but being on Okinawa (a small island 300 miles off the south eastern coast) Its sometimes not that easy to find RX7 parts. But they do have plenty of Skyline parts.

Vaughnc has a 92. MAzdacomp also states there were 92's:

1991-92 Parts Catalog
(yes, there was a '92)

The above quote was from the mazdaspeed PArts PDF page, unless you are a mazdacomp member, you can't view the page

one easy way to determine if its an 3rd gen or a 2nd gen- where are your outside doorhandles located? if its located on the side of the doors like your average camry, or in your case, cooler cars like a 180sx or an Estima, than you have an FC, if the handle is located somewhat close to the center of the rear part of the window frame, its an FD. -a;lex

look, it's real simple.
2nd gen (Series 4 and 5) is an FC3S, 86-91

3rd gen (Series 6) is a FD3S, 93-99

which one does it look like?
