'91 turn signals suck

Does anyone know if I can change from '91 turn signals to earlier second gen signals. The '91's (or at least mine) are all electronic and I don't get the "mechanical stop" feedback like my '87. It's hard to tell by feel if they are on or not and I really hate it. I'm sure if you haven't driven a '91 that this doesn't really make sense but be glad you own an older car if you've gt one.

If you drive with both hands on the wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock and not some ghettofied cruiser with his seat leaned way back and one finger at 12 o'clock then you should just be able to feel the leaver to the left...I have big hands but even my girlfriend can touch the leaver while having both hands on the wheel with her left hand.

My question has nothing to do with getting to the turn signals but rather that there is no feedback in the lever itself. This is most apparent when you change lanes and hold the lever slightly. You don't have any force feedback so is the signal going at all? Have you hit it far enough that it's in the full on mode? I'm never sure. I'm always sure in the '87 though just because you can feel the increased force as the lever moves. I just would like to put an '87 turn stalk, or any other year, on the '91.

I have the same one, annoying as hell because half the time the damn thing doesnt turn off after you've made the turn. I've just learned to turn it off manually after each turn.

Only the verts with airbags have those, you could probably remove the air bags system and use a dash harness and CPU from a 89 vert and have it all work correctly if you prefer the normal FC turn signal controls

Maybe yours are all skewed?

If I hold mine when going around the corner you can actually hear it click up and if you are paying attention (liek you should be ) you should be looking down at your dash every so often.

A S4 switch has the right connection properties, just not the right size and depth for the switch it self, it doesn't sit flush with the S5...how do I know - I have about 5 S4 switches laying around my self, if anyone wants one PM me lol.

Think you didn't get the part that the 90-91 verts had stalk controls (like 99% of the carsw out there), not surround mounted controls (like every other FC).

Well, since disconnecting the air bag seems to be a bad idea to me, I guess I have to live with it. That sucks but there are many good things about the 'vert so wtf

Hey man, It is only like that on the 90 and 91 'vert, because of the airbags. (at least in my experience)

It's not the year thats the problem, it's the trim :p

I'm swapping the whole steering wheel and signal assembly off another year because I already blasted my airbag in a front-end collision.

well air bags should be replaced every 12 to 15 years anyway as the bags start to break down and then leak when they go off; burning the crap out of you.

So its probably safer to remove the bag anyway.

did u remove the steering wheel? coz there's an alignment there that u have to do that makes the turn signals off whenever u make the turn, it think that's the problem right there. u probably didn't do it right...

No, there are no detents on the 90-91 vert w/SRS controls. It is something even brought up in the road tests of the time.
