91 N/A Will crank, won't start
I've got a 91 Convertible that cranks and fires but won't start. It's getting fuel as well and the injectors aren't clogged, I got them cleaned because they weren't atomizing fuel correctly. I've replaced all the filters, fuel pump and put new ignition coiuls on it as the pair that were on were not functioning correctly. Anyways, when I try to start it, it acts like it is about to start, get up to about 600rpm on the tach then completely cuts off and dies. If I keep turning the starter after it stops, it does nothing but free spin. I'm not quite sure what it is that could be wrong with it. Are there any adjustments I should check, already check the tps and it is okay. Also, if anyone knows a way to post videos on here, I'll gladly upload one of what it's doing. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions

Locate the circuit opening relay. You'll find it to the right of the steering column. It's Yellow and Black. Has five wires to it. Jumper the two wires on the bottom row. They are Black and a Brown wire. The relay has two relays. One relay is for starting the car while the other relay is responsible for keeping the car running once it has started and above 500 rpm. The relay or the ECU, which controls one aspect of the relay, might be the cause of your problem. And it seems like you had a thread about this.

I had one for help with locating where vacuum hoses went. But i didn't get any responses on there and I kind of really need my car running pretty soon. But anyways, what should I be looking for when I jump the relay? Will it start and stay running if the ecu is bad and the relay is jumped?

Alright, I'll have to try it tomorrow because I've got to go to class literally in about a minute. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know the results

Is it under the dash or under the hood? Under the dash I found a yellow and white connector with 5 wires going to it, but no yellow and black connector

So it would be the white and yellow one i found, that has 5 wires going to it thats under the dash and to the right of the column. Sorry, I just don't really like jumping wires that I don't know about

Does the engine make it to the 600 rpm level and then cut out as it did before or is not doing that now? And when is the last time the car started and ran properly?
Can you measure the 'voltage' of the Blue wire at the relay w/key to on and jumper in place?
And do you think after all your attempts to start the car that it might now be flooded?

I do not know when it ran properly because I bought it with it running bad. And it does not make it to 600 rpm any longer. I'll have to check the voltage tomorrow because I need to get ready for class right now. And I don't believe it's flooded, only because I've tried the unflooding procedure about 10 times in between starting attempts. Did it twice after about every 3-4 starting attempts
