91' N/A TII conversion, Using a 87' TII for doner

Has anyone done this specific swap? My question is do I need guage cluster harness out of the 87 also, and swap over the 87 cluster as well? And on the tranny, do I need to custom built mounts? Its currently an auto, and i will be swapping over the full drive train.

For anyone that has done this swap, what stayed in your 91' N/A (a/c, ps, ect...) and what had to be changed. Any help would be great. Thanks guys!

I was involved in one of these before. We swaped EVERYTHING forward of the seats. All dash wiring, sensors, computers etc. We had a bunch of strange electrical problems (our fault for not being organized).

I would change everything. Be careful to do one thing at atime, dont mix the harneses because they will plug together, but cause havock. Switched ignition on one series is a ground on others for examble

(ever see an engine with a - charge. and a body with a +....? confuses the hell out of you when you stand between a shelf and the car and get shocked..)

It shows that you are in California in your profile. The only problem I forsee is getting that thing smogged. Legally, you can't put an older engine into a car if you will be making it a street vehicle

CrackHeadMEl: So you did the same swap? S4 motor into a S5? I read that the tranny mounts are different and some sort of fabricated bracket is need.

Who is we? Well, since you posted in my thread and didn't give an answer, I can only conclude that you don't know, but thanks for taking the time to look at my thread.

i've done this swap. now, yes you do need to switch over the entire wiring from the s4 t2 doner into the 91 n/a. i'm not using p/s(i dont like it) or a/c or an airpump. but it should all be the same if you're using the original wiring for the engine and car. yes you should use the gauge cluster. and no you shouldnt use the auto tranny...try to get all your parts together before doing the build otherwise you'll never get it together...trust me.

Ok , so you did have to remove the dash to get to that harness. No other way around that huh.

My other question is, when you mounted up the TII tranny, did you need anything else or did everything fit fine? I read in the conversion thread that you need to make some sort of bracket so it doesn't sit so low. Im not going to use the auto tranny, Im swaping that over too. Thanks!
