Hi there first time poster on the site. I have a 90fc and im having some problems with a popping noise coming from the engine. It seem to only pop when im going down the road and i take my foot off the gas then as soon as i apply pressure to the peddle again (pop) happens. i have not really worked on these kind of cars much but i can do alot with just a little guidance. Any help would be much appreciated.

 

Sounds like backfiring to me...possibly a leaking fuel injector sending raw fuel into the exhaust and it igniting in the cat...

Yeah, that is pretty normal but I would check the dashpot on the firewall side of the throttle body and make sure it is adjusted correctly.

My 90 vert would shoot flames when I shifted gears at high rpm, which is cool, but this was because my dashpot was completely screwed out. The dashpot keeps the throttle blades from slamming shut.
