Ok, we just got sonja her fc and when driving we reved it out to around 7500rpms and the gas acted like it was stuck and reved all teh way to redline.. we turned off the motor and coasted to the house..now everytime you start the car it wants to do the same thing and rev to 8k.. however the throttle linkage is not moving.. ANyone have any idea what is going on and how to fix this..

 

Throttle plates stuck open? Check and see by hand, grab them and make sure they are closed, and moving freely.

 

Check the throttle position in the engine. It's possible that something got stuck & the plates are wide open. They should be against the idle stop (TPS sensors pushed in).

yeah ... check and lube the thottle cable JUST to make sure, and check the idle screw, and plates

 

maybe the cruise control is stuck?

 

i had a similar problem- wd40 the throttle cable and check the air filter hope it helps
