8k shift

ok so i have ab 89 na fc and i always shift at 8 about when my buzzer goes off...

but iv seen videios of people brining it to 9..

good idea or bad?


if i shift at 9 will that be putting to much stress on my motor...


just want some input... thanks guys!

you ALWAYS shift at 8? probably not a good idea...

tempting fate, but did you see the youtube, 'rotary hell' they red line an engine for like 5 to 10 min and it only quit when it boiled all fluid out and overheated...

The engine makes peak hp below 8000 RPM, unless you go with a radical port job, that's where your powerband will be, and revving above that will not net you any more power. Also consider that these engines are not balanced enough to run above 8000 for extended periods of time.

Get it dyno tested and youll find your limit.

a sec or two at 8k+ will not necesaraly damage your engine.
Depending on what series, going above redline is bad since its not really doing anything, unless your power is up in that rev band.

Peak horsepower will be at about 6.5k to 7k in an S5 NA. Redline isn't the point where you stop building power, it's the point where things start breaking if you go past it for too long.
