'89 TII, code 30, split air bypass solenoid valve?

Checked my codes and I get 30, which is the split air solenoid valve. What is it, where is it, and what does it mean? Thanks.

Red face

The split air solenoid valve is one of the valves that control air (from the air pump) to the main catalytic converter. It needs to be turned on by the ECU to allow air to flow to the converter, when the switching solenoid valve is not turned on. It is a little round gismo screwed into the ACV, which has 2 wires coming out of it going to a 2-pin female connector. The code means the ECU can't "see" the solenoid anymore, that is either the solenoid is bad, or there is a wiring problem going from the ECU to the solenoid (Unplugged? Broken wire or melted connector?). Malfunction of this valve can lead to emission test failure and/or overheated Cat. If the solenoid is indeed bad, it is not available seperately, you must purchase a new ACV to fix it. Have fun!

I have a 90 TII and My ECU is throwing a 30...

My cars ECU is also throwing a 30 but my car doesn't run...much. My car will start but won't rev and idles at about 200 to 500 rpm if you can call that idling and then stalls.

I have replaced the fuel pump, CAS, igniters, spark plugs, fuel filter, and rebuilt my injectors. I don't know why my car won't run! I'm wondering if the split air bypass can cause my car not to run? If you can help me I would really appreciate it!

Thanks,
-Joe
