The person is selling a 89 TII with a broken water seal for $4000, is it worth it?

 

thats a little steep. i wouldnt offer more than 3k

 

Unless that thing has less than 60K miles, I wouldn't give anything over 1.5-2K.

 

A decent rebuild is gonna cost 1,500 a least. That is not including any labor charges.

4K would be too high for a running car with no problems.

talk to down to $1500 as the engine can't be repaired without extensive repairs (well $800-$1200 anyway).

I'd quote him dealership price of $4000 to put a new engine in (even though you can do it MUCH cheaper).
