'89 S5 T2 with 75k

Thinking about buying this 89 Rx7 turbo. Its in good to exellent condition and only has 75000 mile. The guy is selling it for 4000 obo. I know that the S5's are rare, atleast from what i've seen. I currently drive an S4 T2 and i'm pretty happy with it, however my friend is in need of a car, and being as to how i've taught him the way of the rotary, he now wants my S4. But either way your thoughts about the car and the price. Thanks

As long as you're sure that the car is mechanically sound. Have you driven it at all? Compression test? Maintenance records? If it is in fact in very good condition, I think $4k would be a very good price for it. Check to see the book value of it in your area.

4k for a S5 TII with 75k on it is not a bad deal. All thinks considering if the interior and body are in good shape then I think you found a nice car. As always I would suggest bringing the car to a rotary mechanic to do the usual compression test and look over the ride just to make sure.

just make sure you check the condition of the frame and underbody and such. Sounds like damn good price to me. But there's always room to negotiate

Alright then, i'll go check it out. I have not driven it yet, but i'll do the compression test myself there. However i have a good feeling about this, this guy and his wife are, well how do i put this nicely, um, old. And old people take care of their cars or atleast the body should be in good conditions. Who knows if they knew how to maintance an rx or wheather the guy at the dealership knew how. I think i'll look at the evidence, if i see a fram oil filter, then yep they took it to the wrong maintanence guy. hmm I might just offer 3500, my area from nada.com says 4200 is high retail and 3420 is average. Dam prices have droped for rx7's.

Bluebook might have dropped, but in reality they've been going for much more.

That car would get at least 8k in the Bay Area if it's in good shape.

wow, good deal!

I paid $3600 a month ago for an 87 GXL with 50,000 on chassis and 6,000 on engine... Body is in decent shape, but could be better. Needed a new logicon and new mufflers, but now is close to perfect.

So yeah, what you have there, if it all pans out, $4,000 sounds like a great price.

Check it out. Even with a few minor problems, $4000 is a great price for an S5 turbo.
