89 RX7 Air intake System
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am looking for an after-market air intake system for my 1989 RX7 non- turbo. The problem I am having is that no complete system, with air tube, is listed for the 89. The listings are for 86 through 88, and 90 through 92. Why is the 89 a stepchild? My understanding is that the air intake was changed in 1989, and remained unchanged through 1992. I have asked vendors who sell these systems why the 90 – 92 system won’t fit the 89. Their answer is, “buy at your own risk”. Can someone come up with a correct answer?

I think it has to deal with vendors not knowing all about the car they are selling parts for.
Prime example. When they say 90-92. There is no 92 Rx7. 91 carried over to 92 and then 93 S6 came out.
I really don't think there is any difference at all between 89 and 90 for air intake. Its a series 5 they should be exactly the same.
Unless there is a very small difference some where, example 86-87.5 was a sub series for the Series 4. 88 was the next sub series. Electronics were difference in some areas like that logicon is not interchangable between 86-87 and 88. Between 86-87.5, some decals and interior pieces were also different but mostly everything (not all) were interchangable.
