Biggest thing you can do at this point is exhaust. Honestly, the N/A is really capped by the stock intake mani at about 180/190hp. No matter what else, you really can't go past that. I'd say lighten the car up. You already invested in better brakes and suspension so that's good. Just get it as dialed and tight as possible

If you have extra money burning a hole in your pocket, here are some better ideas:
- Take college or trade school classes so that you can get a better job or learn a skill that interests you.
- Pay off all debts that are above 4% APR.
- Buy a house. This is a rare time in history when both home sales and interest rates are low. Be sure to buy a house with a nice garage so you can work on your car.
- Start funding an IRA or 401(k) so that you don't end up homeless in your old age. The younger you start the better off you will be. If you think the government has you covered then I have a bridge to sell you.
- Keep 12 months worth of spending in a cash reserve (checking, savings, and/or money market). This way you can cover emergencies, such as a blown engine. Just take whatever you spend each month and multiply it by 12 and that is how much you should have in the bank.
First item: spellcheck application
Not really, but proper tire inflation works wonders for performance, and air is free at many gas stations.
The majority of exhaust performance comes from the header, so I wouldn't bother replacing the rest of the exhaust system unless it is failing. Top brands are Racing Beat and Apexi, decent brands are Monza and Bonez.

Those are all good parts, so I would just stick with that.

Great, but my main point is that if you don't have money for those important things then you certainly do not have money for unnecessary car parts. Your car sounds really nice, so I wouldn't recommend replacing any parts unless they are worn or broken. Yeah, I know, I probably sound like your parents,... but I also sound like Warren Buffett.

Aviator has presented the grey flannel "grandpa" advice, I'll add some tie dye grandpa advice.
Get some good tires and get thee to a track.
Open test day, autoX, performance driving school...doesn't matter.
Fact is, you can't drive the car you have, much less a more powerful one.
Without a solid foundation of skill, one that is constantly honed, any improvements to the car will remain unexploited till you catch up.
All of which begs the question- where are you driving and what are you doing that a stock FC isn't fast enough?

Well, obviously in any situation with a corner your FC takes the Pontiac (which would just barrelroll off the outside and burst into flames...because that's just how Detroit did it in the seventies) but you're punching over your weight in a straight line contest.
Maybe pick on something more evenly matched, say, a Saturn or a grocery cart.
The cheapest/fastest way to serious torque is a LSx, but that's a fuckload of shifts at Taco Bell.

when i was 18, i had a 68 mustang and an 86 Rx7, and the Rx7 would literally run circles around the mustang.

go to your local track and take a race course instructor led in your car. Then get back to us.
I am doing it this year (err... hopefully....******* lug nuts) and I have already come to grips that I will be surprised with what I think It can do, vs what it can do.
And, tires. would be my only suggestion.

spelling is free. think of it like dressing for the job you want, and not the job you have...
this actually should not be to hard, his car weighs twice as much as yours, and he's got a giant engine, but it sucks donkey *****, and the transmission is going to take ~100hp to spin, so really he's going to be like 5000lbs/300wheel hp, you car is only going to need about 175hp to match his power to weight... and the lighter car is going to be faster, everywhere

most people think they know it all, til a snowstorm hits and they're in a ditch. or they're on a track with people in the same car who are lapping you.
i've driven in sand, rivers, mud, rocks as big as your car, snow, ice, autocrossed, etc, etc and i still don't think i'm all that great of a driver.

i'm in the same boat, i can run around a track and not crash, but i'm not fast

Except the Firebird is going be a 3300-3500 lb car. Even a big block Malibu of that era would be well under 4000lbs. And the Firechicken might barely double the Rx7 horsepower, but likely more than triples the torque. If the Pontiac is in any kind of decent shape, the 7 will fall behind fast in a straight line.ł
