I just got an '89 Rx7 this summer. The brake resevoir was almost empty. I filled it up and it seemed okay. A few days ago I had to refill it. I haven't seen any fluid leakage. Someone said I could need new pads. Any ideas? Thanks.

you have a leak, look harder. put the car on jackstands, pump the brakes with the ebrake on and with it off. look EVERYWHERE, all up and down the lines. have someone pump while you look or vice versa. brake fluid doesnt just dissapear.

Check the inside of the firewall as well, if its the master thats bad it could be leaking inside the car and getting soaked up by the insulation. Happened to my car, and it still smells like brake fluid if you pull the carpet back...

Check around your ABS unit also.

You should take your master cylinder off the brake booster and see if its leaking from the back of the master cylinder.....from what i can tell if you don't see the fluid leaking from everywhere obvious, it might be taking the back door escape. Have you checked your pads by the way? the way the system works is that the less pad material you have the farther the pistons in the calipers have to push out in order to make pad contact with the rotor, so in turn it uses more fluid from the resivoir, so if it has been summer since you've filled it then that might just be just as simple as pads but if they're new or reasonably thick then you've got bigger problems my friend.

i have the same problem except i know where mines leaking from, you know where the e-brake cable pulls that lever on the caliper? well where that lever enters the caliper its leaking right there. is there an indivdual seal i can buy or do i have to replace the whole caliper?

Thanks for all the good advice. I found the leak the other day. It is leaking from my master cylinder. I hope replacing that will fix the problem. Thanks again.
