'89-'91 foglight bulb question?

Are the bulbs in the '89-'91 foglights H3's? Just curious ... cuz I wanna get a set of PIAA xtreme whites to match my headlights. Also, does anybody know what the technical name for the style of buld in the front bumper signal lights are? It'd look nice to have all 3 lights be the same color of white.

.... so there's a little ricer in all of us, sue me

I'm pretty sure they're H3's. All the aftermarket ones have a 3" wire on one side - it just mounts differently when you install them.

I went to a local speed shop and found some Toucan 55 watt xenon H3's and xenon replacement bulbs for the front turn signals to match my Sylvania "cool blue" headlights. (you can get 85 or 100 wattage H3's, I just don't want anything taxing my alternator or fuel pump as my sound system already is enough) It all ties together nicely, just looks a lot more crisp and updated. (it's only rice if you do the taillights) I'd check the bulb type for you but my car's in a garage awaiting tomorrow's AM UPS delivery of my upgraded turbo.

I also put xenon bulbs in the reverse lights position - also Toucan.
My car's white with clear lenses so it looks good.

If you're having trouble finding xenons in your area here's a couple links for you...

they are not H'3 they are mazda only bulbs that cost about $20usd each from the dealer. but with a little work you can get H3s to fit. h3s have one prong and one wire, the stock bulbs have 2 prongs. so you just have to get the wire into the prong hole or something like that... never tried.

www.corksport.com they sell Dspeed clears for $65/pair. They aren't cheap and you can probably make your own; that's just not how I mod my car.

US cars may be different, but on my Jap model the front indicator lenses were clear with orange plastic inserts glued in behind. I just ripped off the orange inserts and swapped the bulbs for orange ones! Free DIY clears!

Ok, one question, are you referering to just the bulb fix? If so how lond does this take since I need to get new bulbs since mine don't seem to want to go on when my light's aren't on full beam. Is there another switch besides the one one before the arm rest? I might have missed it before. So in general do these bulbs plug in much like a light bulb would? Sorry, I havn't done much with my lights though I do want to get my foglights working. Thanks again

they're not hard to install - I think the bulb housing has a screw on one edge of it (if I remember right) and you just screw the end of the bulb wire to that and plug the bulb into the housing. Make sure that when you remount the housing you have that little wire coiled in there evenly so that it doesn't lay on the wire catch that you flip to hold the bulb into the socket. If you have the wire's insulation resting against it when you reinstall the bulb housing the heat will melt the insulation and short your bulb.

Apparently, the bulb designation is H3C, according to Dale Clark.

Read this, it might help you:

Hey all -

One thing that's always irked me is finding a source for new '89-91 foglight
bulbs, let alone upgraded ones. No auto parts store I've seen has ever had
'em.

Well, I found out the bulb designation is H3C. Doing a search for H3C
revealed this -

http://www.classicgarage.com/classic...amp-bulbs.html

They have "yellow gold" colored H3C bulbs and "blue diamond" bulbs.
Hopefully, the "yellow gold" is yellow enough to give the foglamps the
Infini look...

Prices seem very reasonable. I've never dealt with this company, so I don't
know anything farther.

Dale
