i finally got my s5 on the road (kinda) and drove it around, damn... this thing is MAD slow compared to my carbureted s5 i had a while back... i know my 5 and 6 port works, i dont know if vdi works, and i have idle issues. but i kinda expected more, since the rest of the car is in very very good shape.. while the other car only had a good carb and motor, exhaust is crap... most of the car is crappy... but it is very light since everything was stripped... *sigh* idk.

i was hoping the s5 felt a bit faster n/a... guess i gotta install my afc soon to get that little bit more haha.

i probably gotta break in the clutch too, but it felt like it grabed perfect off the box, so i was seeing if it can grab at 3000+rpm twice... and it did, but aside from that im just gonna granny the thing every couple of days.

oh ****.... i just realize.. maybe my car is slow cos of the 3.9 rear end... LOL... hm...

these numbers are close to what i would expect, but i think the S5 were tuned more conservatively, so the power difference isnt as much as you think. my brothers newly rebuilt S5 n/a streeport/intake/2.5"exhaust only put down 130whp

here are a couple of REAL numbers from REAL cars.

stock 87 gxl: it did 116rwhp. car is stone stock, 180k+ miles, cat is in good shape...

gtus kevins car: i think it did 142rwhp, this is an s5 with no cats, and an intake

todds car: again s5, headers and catback, 140rwhp. this one was high miles

our ITS/PS1 car: s5, header, haltech, 175rwhp....

conclusions: an S4 car, thats stock, should be running 110-120rwhp, removing the cat should get you 10-15hp, i dunno about safc+timing, havent tried it

S5 car, stock 120-130, taking the cat out, gets you 140-142, safc+ tuning might get you another 5-10 depending
