89-90 na rx-7 dyno numbers?

hey guys! I would like to know what they dyno at stock?

Probly anywhere from 90-120 depending on age and wear.

I've seen a stock S4 do 116. Cold air, exhaust, and advanced ignition timing help. Maybe up to 172 whp?

I was wondering if this was really true because a friend of mine told me they dyno from 130 to 145 rwhp stock.

Yeah.. 130 brand new maybe... But I'd say 90-125 is a realistic rwhp to see on a pre-loved NA.

The S4 was 140 bhp, so figure about 110-115 whp brand new. Now a days you should see just over a 100. Most of what I've seen intake and exhaust will net you about 130-145whp. With a way to control fuel and other supporting mods I've seen high 160's. Most I've ever seen on stock ports was 200 and that was with a standalone and custom intake manifold.

Series 5 Engines should dyno around 130-140rwhp. They are rated at 160bhp. If your engine still has excellent compression, expect above 135. This is stock everything as well.

Opening up the exhaust and installing a proper intake will yeild over 150. Installing and tuning a SAFC or Rtek 2.0 will yeild over 165 with proper tfuel and timing tuning. This is assuming you have good compression, 95+ PSI and that everything else is in good working order. One guy made 163 with just SAFC, some type of exhaust and intake.

On a Series 4? Doubt it. Install a Rtek 2.0 for fuel and ignition timing control, S5 Intake manifold, tuned exhaust and high flow intake and you might get up there if you have good compression.

I am running a S4 FI and Computer with S5 Rotors, street port and RB Street headers with RB cat back and straight pipe through the cat. I dynoed 160hp. On that config I ran a 15.6 1/4.

I have since replaced the RB cat back and cat with a straight 2.5" exhaust. I have not dynoed since but my 1/4 mile time now is 15.1. Although I have also removed about 200lbs from the car.

Rebuilt engine has ~30k miles. Chassis has ~309k miles.

well maybe you didnt read STOCK...... and rotaman so your saying you only lose 15hp from the flywheel to the wheels???? maybe on a BRAND NEW car with NEW everything including drivetrain etc...... let me see some sheets of a STOCK S5 put down 145whp???

P.O.S. RX-7's come from negligence far more often than user damage.

The numbers posted are probably right. If you have a P.O.S. RX-7 they're obviously less. But both stock RX-7's I've owned still managed their factory rated top speed.

I am going to a local shop to dyno my car in the very near future. I am hoping for a mid 160 hp level, then I will be getting a 75-125 wet shot of nitrous and am going to go back and dyno again. Should be fun. My engine has about 85,000 on it and has been rebuilt, but I haven't had it compression tested. Mods are in the sig.

I havn't seen any answers from you so far. Just a bunch of bulshit words that mean nothing.

People dyno stock S4 all the time and come up with around 110-115. S5 have 20hp more then S4s. Why do you think they will dyno the same as a S4? I have seen people dyno S5 and get between 125-135. I have seen a few all stock hit 138

If your engine is not running right, ofcourse its not going to get good numbers.

I would like to know why you are putting me in the category with people that don't know ****? You say you are going to be running a wet shot, read the thread about the nitrous build, interesting to know why wet is not that great.

wow siguy way to judge people so quickly. I dont know how this little feud started but its not needed. Im guess neither of you have dynoed a stock s5 so lets leave this to people who have. both of you have given your estimates. My guess is somewhere around 100 give or take a few, its a 18year old car i would give higher numbers depending if the motor has been rebuilt

Well considering you think S5 can't even dyno at 130, you must think they are pretty close to S4 numbers.

Top speed is based almost entirely on horsepower and drag. Check the guys who acheive a high top speed in their RX-7. But besides all that both cars pull hard like they're supposed to when new; a little faster than an automatic V6 Mustang just like the numbers say. And a little faster than most other "sporty" cars on the road, just as you'd expect based on their 0-60's.

Oh, and geeze, do you even read what you read? I said that I got up to top speed really quickly; needed to because there's traffic and I don't weave. In fact I was still accelerating slowly past "top speed" but I needed to stop because I hit traffic after a few seconds.

Not to say that there aren't a lot of P.O.S. RX-7's out there. I'm just saying it's easy enough to get a good one and the claims that other people posted are quite plausible.

Yep thats why its soo funny when a NA owner get's bummed out thinking they were going to dyno higher. These car's are old and 90% are low on compression!

Ive seen dyno's as low as 80rwhp and as high as 130rwhp.

That is pretty respectably. Sounds like my goal of hitting 14's with a street port on my S5 is attainable. Glad to hear you got rid of the RB cat back. Other than it sounding nice, I can't understand why so many people purchase that setup. Nice pics, 276,000 miles on the original engine, that's awesome.
What computer are you using???
