as the title says, what are the least amount of this to disconect to pull a 88t2 in long block form? Im pretty sure that the ac and power steering pump need to be disconected but what else. thanks a lot. Gabe

well, either you have to , cut the engine harness, pull it out from the inside, 2 plugs by ecu 1 plug kinda up under dashsomehwat hard to get to, or remove intercooler, upper intake manifold and rats nest and unplug everything.

then take out radiator shroud, and maybe rad, to be on safe side, remove hood if u want?
unbolt trany mounts, engine mounts,
remove exhaust pull driveline,
take off the oil cooler lines, unplug all driver side hanress,
undo clutch slave clyander,
undo all the hoses, fuel, vac, charcol caniuster hoses, ect.....
and drain everything,

and pull motor and trany as 1, or not....

im pulling motor in my 87 t2 this weekend, ive got half that stuff done so far.

thats not in order necisarrly.... thers prolly somemore but that seems like most of it

its probably a day job... if you work at it somewhat efficently all day...

we pulled mine in 5 hours, if you want to keep the wiring harness in the car and intact, you have to remove the tb and intake manifolds to get to the injector plugs. watch out for the fuel line going to the fuel rail, it spit gas at my friend when he removed it.

so, unbolt the tranny, motor mounts, i dont want to take the wireing harness out/ cut it. so i guess i have to take off the intake manifolds along with the tmic and tb. is there any easier way to do this that im not seeing or have had sugested. oh yeah what should i do with the tranny because the motor will be out for about 2 months. should i just wrap a trash bag around the exposed tranny or what?thanks in advance

go to the tech section... then click on engine removal...

Its pretty simple to follow... I pulled mine in about 6hours the first time but I know I could do it faster if I had to do it again
