88 Vert Wont Start??

Okay so my vert wont start .. let it sit for about 3 months then go and try to start her (had jumper cables on) and made that familliar sound of being flooded.. try and start her 2 months later (jumper cables on) and made the sound of being flooded, then nothing ,

Now every time i go to crank her over all lights shut off and the lights in iddiot cluster dim real bad and she doesnt attemt to turn over just makes the sound of a dead battery clicking..

What could this be she has never ever had any starting problems ... tested compression b.4 i parked her and it was 112 on both faces....very reliable car until i parked her for 5 months or less.

any help/info is very appreciated .

Like I said if the starter is just clicking take a hammer and tap the starter, if it still clicks check the battery, and it thats all good take the starter in to get tested.

Wow man calm down on the name calling that was a lil harsh. I would have said something about it if I had noticed what he meant before. The forum is about learning and helping, not bashing. Even SNTP knows this most of the time and keeps the bashing to the lounge.

When I let my old T2 sit for 3 months it wouldn't start. I didn't panic. I just hooked a tow strap up to my dads truck and had someone pull it down the road at 25mph. I simply put the car in second gear and dropped the clutch. After 5-7 seconds of the engine turning over at 3000 rpms it started firing just like normal.

There was absolutly nothing wrong with the car. It just didn't like sitting.

Try that.

Hey T-2 are u a retard? the alternator will keep the car runnig. Battery is just there to store voltage so u can start ur car after its turned off dumb ***!

If i have the cables on the + and - then that is a direct connection and should start the car no problem
i use to work at auction and numerous times cars had no battery and had to do this works perfect.

well I am not sure about mazda but I know n my friends Datsun if u pull the battery the car will NOT run sont even start if u ump it right to the cables...

another thing to think about.. how big of a batteyr were u jumping from.. verts I am sure take abit of current maybe your battery in the other car is not large enough to crank the car over...

not only that but the battery may be to low to even accept a large enough charge to jump the car.. try a battery CHARGER thats what they are meant for ..

otherwise make sure the battery u are jumping form has largr CCA and larger AMPS then the one u have in the vert otherwise it wont start the car

the fuse box wires are close to the 2 inches of water mark i suppose... there are some wires going to the tail lights, speakers, defroster (dunno about the verts though), and other misc things. They run along the door sill. i doubt water would cause any problems with them though. check to make sure your fuses are all good. check to make sure there is fuel splurting out of the upper fuel line (unplug and try to start the car). make sure your starter cut relay is good. pull and cleanthe spark plugs/ oil them (or replace and oil,

pull the plugs and turn the car over with no plugs and the gas pedal pushed in to release some gas fumes.

if all else fails try push starting it.
