88 NA RX-7 vs. 98 Civic Ex

What u guys think? Dude at school got a Civic Si(canadian) which is your american Ex. He has:

Big intake
muffler
Big tip

I have:

Big intake
no cats
straight thru muffler

How much hp might those things add for him? Im pretty sure i can take him unless hes squirting, doubt it. What u guys think?

if it's an AEM intake, and Greddy Exhaust, then he'll have added oh say, 7 hp to his setup.

You, having a Rotary NA Engine w/ a better freeflowing exhaust and a CAI, you'd be already be making over 1.5x his hp and torque at the Flywheel.

You'll kick his *** unless he's got an engine swap, turbo, nox, or sc w/ stripped interior.

but I think someone already posted a question about a civic si vs an NA 2nd gen. 2nd gen was one car behind during the first 1/8th, at the end of the quarter when the 5th and 6th ports opened, he was 2-3 lengths ahead.

No competition

No competition. Your rotary is making 20 more horsepower stock, and you've both added about the same stuff. You should be able to smoke him easily. His gear ratios might be shorter at the start and allow him to get a bit ahead, but in the end, you'll leave him in your dust.

Peice of crap VTEc motors...they got nothing.

Peace,
Nima

If it was the American Civic Si vs an 88 n/a, it would be pretty close.

RICE ALERT

If he has Type R stickers on his CIVIC that means he's a ricer...cause there is no civic Type R, at least not in Canada (or States I bet). He is running a normal Civic VTEC engine...and I bet you half the **** he says he's done is fake too...he was too busy spending money on stickers to buy good mods.
This is no competition...as I like to say: "A civic is an econobox family sedan. A RX7 is a real sports car."

Good luck, shift hard and show what rotary power is all about!

I beg to differ, I have a 89 GTU now, but before i had a 99 civic si. With the basic bolt ons it was pretty quick. There is soooo much potential with a civic and as a matter of fact most hondas.

Another thing is that they are some of the most reliable cars out there, don't be surprised when a Civic pulls up next to you, and smokes you.

I love my rx-7, itz a wonderful machine, but i don't agree with all this civic bashing.

RIP Si 7/28/99-8/2/01

Um, don't underestimate that Civic.

A buddy of mine who had an EX with a crappy intake and some nice headers pulled 15.9's and whooped my *** all day long. Another friend with really nice I/H/E combo beat his ***.

Unless our n/a's are fairly well modded Civic's can be tough opponents.

Of course, I'm only speaking of drag racing. Civics can't turn for ****.

Buddy!
I beat my friends Cdn Si with an 87 prelude si!

You should have zero problems beating him.

R.I.P 87 Prelude. We had soo many chicks sit in that car

I heard they go mid or high 14's after simple intake and exhaust mods. Mid 15's might be right.

Hey Jahoo don't worry too much about your friends 120hp sohc beast.
If you're really scared. You could borrow my T2 for one meeeeeelion dollars.

15.2 is pretty optimistic for a stock Civic Si.

Li Hao Xhe's 1/4 time resource:
https://www.rx7club.com/vforums/show...threadid=24948

Thread on Club Si about 1/4 mile times.
http://forums.clubsi.com/ubb/Forum37/HTML/000285.html

The driver has to be able to utilize the full potental from a car, but a machine is only capable of so much. Stock vs. Stock, the upper hand goes to the Turbo FC 87-88 or 89-91.

If you're looking for a fast stock Honda , then an ITR is a real match up for a Turbo FC. It'd give the FC a good run for it's money.

Do Canada's RX7's proud!

Go and kick this idiots *** and his stupid Civic....I see so many Civic's at teh University of Calgary, all souped up, sounding like droning flies all around campus. I know that my 7 could smoke one of them stock vs. stock, maybe I could even take one with a muffler and an intake (all that most of them got anyways).

Go and show that you need to buy a real sports car before you can think you're a racer....a riced up civic economy sedan ain't gonna take no RX7!!!

Peace,
Nima

Ps. Give him just what Dr.Wankell prescribed.

A T2 vs a Civic is so overbalanced even a bad T2 driver should spank a good Civic driver. My exgirlfriend has a friend that drives a new Civic (her or her BF) and I routinely whip them on the street. I cant remember what model it is but its as high as you can go with out getting an Si.

So Go kick his A$$

pretty? try VERY! There's no way a stock Si will hit 15.2 Hell I'd be surprised to even see a 15.5. It just doesn't have the *****. The most the average driverw ill get out of an SI would be a low-mid 16. Properly driven, I'd say a 15.5 would be possible at most.
