ok as much as i hate civics an american civic si will easily walk an n/a 2nd gen...more horsepower less torque but also 2500 pounds....against a canadian si (american ex) it would be close...better driver will win....the weight difference helps a lot...my first car was a civic and i had a 97 prelude engine in it....168 horsepower and 130 horsepower to the wheels (200 and 156 at flywheel) and ran a best time of 13.8 in the quarter and im only a decent driver....compare that to the times of a stock tII with 182 and 183 to the flywheel...our 7s jus get fucked over wit the extra weight

I had a 90 GXL that was running perfect with NO mods AT ALL. My bro had a 99 Si with Intake, Exhaust and maybe header, but it might've been before.... anyways....
First gear was dead even, second I barely pulled and the rest was just basically a matter of who shifted in the best ranges. Real close, but c'mon.... TII vs Si? He knew better when i got my 87 TII, so needless to say, he's driving a WRX now.

Hey guys, might wanna hear this...

THE THE "SI" THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT IS AN "EX" HERE IN THE STATES. THE "SI-R" IS THE "SI" IN THE STATES. REMEMBER THAT. THE "EX" DOESN'T HAVE A CHANCE AGAINST A SLIGHTLY MODDED 7 UNLESS IT GOT A S/C, NOS, OR TURBO.

The links in the post aren't working, they were linked to a import tuner article that said it was running 9's. Just relax, my fault, i will try to find more articles on it, but it does run 9's.

I don't get why you brought this up since this has nothing to do with the original topic. Of course you can modify a Honda to be fast. You can modify anything to be fast since there's no limit to what you can do.

Still, I really want to see a web page that shows this 9' second STREET LEGAL Civic because I've never heard of it. In fact, I think it's BS there's a STEET LEGAL Civic in the 9's. The most famous 9' second STEET LEGAL cars are Ari Yallon's RX-7 and a Supra. Please find the site for this so I can be amazed also.

What are all you guys talking about? We are talking about an american EX. An american 2000 SI only runs 15.9 stock. An N/A 7 with header/exhaust/intake will beat that more than likely. Now that we're talking about an EX, they run 16.7 stock. Rx7s respond better to mods so remember that. Unless the civic has NOS, a S/C, or a turbo on it you will run it if you have mods & are a halfway decent driver.

The reason i bring this up is because somebody commented that Vtec's cannot be fast.

By the way, I'm still looking for a site, the other geocities one is not available, but here is a video of that civic racing a motorcycle (hyabusa 1300cc)

http://www.thehorsepowerwarehouse.co...atchvsbusa.mpg

Specifics will come later.

thanks,
hashsi

Dunno if its worth posting but we raced. LOL
Got him by about ~5 cars to 50mph! he missed 2nd or something.

Now he claims his car would be faster but i must have some "secret" mods under the hood. That and he cant drive for ****.

He doesnt park near me anymore

Cheers,
Jakob

So your "secret mods" happen to slow his car down? They wouldn't just make your car faster?

american Civic Si= 160 HP
Civic EX= 120 Hp right? or is it 140?

Stock NA rx7, 86-88= 146 HP

stock for stock, might be even. except, Civic has shorter gears, and will take more shifting. however, its Wrong-wheel drive, and will squeal like a piggy.

our cars will squat and take off, i can barely get my 7 to chirp in 2nd, an EX chirps easily. its all in the weight transfer. hell i can peel out and chirp the tires in my friends 94 Grand Am 2.3 quad 4. thats only 110 HP...just cuz it makes noise dont mean its FAST.

besides, rotaries respond better to performance upgrads than "Vtechs" hes only got a D16...if hes lucky.

if you hit the gears right, and dont bog on the launch, you can take him. i have confidence.

No matter how many WeaponR stickers you apply, FWD Honda vehicles are slow. I'm positive you can take him. I gave my friend a ride in my beat-to-**** '87 Sport last night. Even with 163,000 miles, he said it would stay with his Integra GS-R.

Sucks to be him, I paid $350, he paid $11,000.
