Harbor Freight Tools sells a great engine hoist that will reconfigure itself into a 2 foot by 2 foot square on wheels that is only about 4-1/2 feet high. It assembles in about two minutes flat into a full-sized engine hoist. It's on sale now for $159 US. I have one and it's GREAT. When you don't need it, just put it in a corner and forget it. They have an adjustable chain spreader bar (for attaching to the engine for lifting) for about another $20. It allows you to crank a handle on the spreader and change the angle of the engine (and trans if they're together) while the whole thing is hanging on the hoist. My son and I went in on this thing together and have made our money back renting it out at $20 a day to other hobbyists. When it's apart, it fits easily in a car trunk (with the deck lid tied down). No one part is more than any single person can lift. It just ain't worth the aggravation of dropping the engine (and tranny maybe) or damaging the radiator support or inner fenders. Think it over and do it right the first time.
