rx-7 aftermarket

later on this week i will be buying an 86 non turbo rx-7. i was wondering if anyone could help me with a few question i have. first off does anyone know a good place to start looking for body kits for this model. nopi has pictures for two of them on their site, but they werent very catchy. second where can i find a turbo for my car, and what has to be done to turbo it. another question i have is what are some good exhaust that wont make it sound like a honda but something that lets you know this car has *****. lastly thi car has like 106k miles on it... what is the avg life span of a non turbo 86 rx7, should i be getting ready to have to do a rebuild?

To find a turbo for your car don't buy it and buy a TII. Not worth the time and money to turbo an NA unless you want to do a big project and spend lots.

Get Racing Beat header, straight pipe (if no emission laws where you are, if so get a good high flow cat or something), and get your choice of muffler.

Lifespan all depends on how the engine is taken care of and how it has been taken care of in the past. My engine just died at only 168000km or so because the people I bought it off were clueless I guess, but if taken care of they can last way longer then that if not had any porting work done to them.

I second the turbo thing. Its a big project that is costly and you have to learn alot. The only reason i would do it is if you want to completly rebuild everything on your car as i am. Its been over a year sence ive drivin my car, and im still far away from seeing boost.

My engine had 156k on it when it started to overheat alot, It could still be driving and such, but being more of a pain than it was worth i decided to tear it down.

another thing is these cars need a little more preventative maintnence than others. If you overheat they will most likly not run as well or at all as apposoted to my old honda and my friends escort, who take a beating and still run fine.
