88 engine front cover O ring issues
OK I have a really big pain in the *** problem. i rebuilt a 88 engine and i encountered low oil pressure . so being a newb at 2nd gens i assumed that the oil pump was worn or something . after removing the front cover i noticed that the front cover O ring was cut in 2.
so upon replacing this O ring and front cover gasket . i fixed it Or so i thought.
it now does the same thing after idling for about and hour after fix. the oil pressure dropped again 10 lbs on idle and 30-45 lbs about 3000. so I'm pretty sure the Oring is bad again. is there a better way of putting this Over sized Oring in this place . i watched a video on how to rebuild 86-88 and it said this was a common problem due to the fact that mazda rebuild kits did not come with the correct sized Oring . I have heard of putting a stand pipe in this location . or sanding the oring ? or journaling the oring location.any help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, BUMPS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THIS SECTION.
Second, I've used Mazda OEM parts and never had a problem with o-ring fitment.
DON'T USE A GASKET.

You can cheat and use a little bit of sealant (i.e. Hylomar, etc.) to help keep the o-ring in place.
What I do is with the engine on the engine stand with the front facing upwards, you can peek from underneath to see if the o-ring is seat correctly.
