88 10th ae vs. 89-91 s5 tii

i currently own a 89 gtu-s

im thinking of getting a 88 10th ae because its rare, and it looks nice. I like the sunroof and all the options it has.

im thinking if i should get a s5 tii instead because the engine has more hp and its slightly newer...

im still leaning more towards the 10th ae tho. what do u guys think?

the AEs are nice with all the options but the S5s do look nicer and have a tiny bit better power but overall they both have the same potential and it is up to your wallet to decide which to get. basically it all boils down to price and conditions of each car.

i think the looks are pretty much the same except for the rear tail lights. others are really minor. they both are about similar price...

The only reason I'd go for a 10th AE in this situation is if I was looking for a great car to keep bone stock.. otherwise, it's kind'a pointless to have one, because 10th AE cues like the wheels will have to go if you get too heavy with the modding.. plus, S5 body components are better looking.. I think we all can agree on that.

well if you plan to mod it i would go with the AE(better platform to start modding), if you plan to keep it fairly stock i would go with the S5

Thumbs up 10th AE

If the AE is reasonably priced go with the AE it is rare and u can make it a sleeper. If you must have body mods cuz thats what u like to do just get and S5 cuz the AE's are worth what they are because of their rarity in their stock cosmetical format. And if you can keep that AE in good condition it will be worth ALOT of money in the future. As it is i have seen mint ones with no engine mods go for 8-10k.

people who pay $8-10k for an AE are idiots, sorry to burst your bubble. if you think it will keep appreciating in value, sorry to burst your bubble again but keep dreaming.

Only way they'll appreciate is if they're in the same shape as the guy on here who has the 10thAE with 6,200 miles on it........and never gets many more - hehe.

Personally I would go with an S5 TII, the AE's IMHO should be left un-molested because of what they are - special editions - once you take one and go with a big single, fancy rims etc (don't get me wong the car is still bdass) it loses all of its 10thAE allure, because now its a former 10thAE that has been built up. Look at it this way, if you had a Boss 302 Mustang and ditched the factory rims, put a 351 in it and went right ot town - it would be nice, but it would no longer be a Boss 302. So why did you buy one? you know? You could have had the same thng with a run of the mill pony.

Either way you'll be happy with a TII over your N/A for sure, go with whichever fits your budget and taste.

Just please keep in mind......there are ONLY 1500 10thAE's in the world....thats it. There are wayyyyy more S5 TII's ready for building.

I can't imagine you have many cars to choose from, therefore like is always the case with used cars....buy the one that is in better condition. Period.

and the more AEs that get modded the more the unmolested ones should appreciate in value right? kinda *** backwards thinking.

^ what he said, except I'd like to add that there are less than 1000 Tenth AEs left with a clean title, and something like less than 300 left that are stock "this is just what i was told." So please, don't bastardize my Tenth AEs.

Yup....but its still a sweet ride - its just not a stock, un-driven, vaccum sealed, cryogenically frozen in time anniversary edition - hehe.

But it will smoke the pants....and underwear....off a stock one

There's one local to me, sizzlenut on the forum, I bought the engine from it before he did the swap and we put in a first gen for a television show.

At least though his car runs 12's..........like someone I know from AZ - hehe.
