87 RX7 Turbo need help

Hi
I am new to RX7 world. I am planing on buying a mazda rx7. The car is a 87 RX7 TurboII. I am not sure if the II stands for twin turbo!

The asking price is about US$ 2700. The car is rust free and in good shape. I dont know anything about rotory engines so I can not comment on the condition of the engine. The owner says he has replaced the engine and transmission few months ago. The donor car had 60K miles on it. The engine is still under warranty for another month or 2.

My questions are:
what is the spec for this car. Hp? 0-60 time 1/4 mile time. (the car is bone stock)

Is there anything specific that I should look for when buying this car?
Are they reliable?

What is the major negative point on these cars?

Any other comments?

Thanks in Advance.

make sure you get a cmpression test on the engine before you but it. that will tell you more or less the condition of it.

HP is around 182 or 186 or something... 06- is around 6secs, 1/4 mile is around 15.

the first thing is to have a compression test done on the motor to make sure its in good shape. a mazda dealer can do it or you can yourself it you know how. but the dealer is more documented..

the stock specs on an 87 T2 is about 15.0 in the 1/4 and 6.8 0-60...with some cheap mods you can get into the low 14's easily.

the reliability part is up in the air. just depends on your luck.

the turboII part doesn't mean twin turbo...in stock form they are all just single turbo.

if you do some searches on here you'll find some great info on differnt aspects of the car...good luck man...if you get it have a blast!
