87 FC N/A wanting to convert to TURBO!

Hello,

I just recently purchased an 87 GX, and I was wondering if it were possible to convert it to a turbo?

I have heard conflicting stories; from it's a drop-in, to the extent that everything is different (susp, tranny, etc..)

Now I'm really new to the whole rotary thing. I've owned, and played with Honda's for as long as I could drive and I also run an E-SpeedShop http://www.importparts.ca So the input would be much appreciated.

I have access to 13BT's. So the motor, turbo, and trans. isn't a problem.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

at the top right hand corner, you will find the "search" link button thingie. bust out on that thing with catchy phrases like "n/a to turbo" and "turbo conversion", im sure you will be very satisfied with your results.

It's springtime- These posts will be popping up like weeds...
Yup- a plethora of info under the search function.
Anyways- if you want to put int an engine, then you need the WHOLE drivetrain- all the sensor, and the computer (plus the engine of course) and a TII hood if you want the top mounted intercooler.
You can just put a turbo onto the N/A engine- it's easier, but the high compression N/A rotors mean you have to watch detonation very closely.
A TII turbo will bolt on- but you need to make a spacer for the manifold.
It's pretty easy.
Then you just run coolant and oil lines, intercooling (recomended for more than 6 psi!!), and you need fuel managment (S-AFC, FMU) and bigger injectors and fuel pump (off of a TII).
That's the basics- you can find more if you search.
