temp gauge install

Question temp gauge install

if i install a mechanical water temp gauge, will it screw into the current sensor hole belwo the Oil Filter or do i have to modify it?? also would you guys recomend this....and once installed what is normal operating temperature for a 88 SE n/a and take into account my mods and my coolant system setup..........what is to high of a temp to run #'s wise??

I doubt if it will fit. Just look at the small hole in the block and then at the mechanical bulb. Put a bung the size of the mechanical bulb on a piece of pipe and put that piece of pipe b/t the water filler neck and the radiator. Or drill a hole the size of the bulb in the blank boss on the water filler neck and tap some threads in that area. Or............

I have an autometer gauge sender hooked up to the stock hole. It works okay, i dont think there are any leaks

Why do you want to get a mechanical guage?? PITA to run the lines thru the firewall to the guage.

I'd mount it n the water pump housing.Just below the thermostat.That's where I have my sender to my electric gauge.
