Having owned both a rex and a Z31, here is the deal. The year of the rx makes it slower in a drag situation, the Z's had tons of torque, like 175lbs or something. I raced my old Z against my 7 before any mods and I pulled just a little, like half a car from 0-50 but after that it was over, I walked (2-3 cars) my Z from 50 to 90ish. Handling, the Z's are a big tub car, the rear suspension really sucks *** in those things, they squat real bad if you take off fast. I had to replace both the struts and the shocks for it. Any FC will handle better than the Z31.

Also the 84-85 Z's were the quickest N/A's they were the lightest. can you believe that my 2+2 86 was lighter than a 2 seater 87-89.
