Red face 87 base to 87 turbo?

I was wondering can I convert my 87 base to a turbo. I spoke to a guy at the rotary shop where I bought my limited slip from. He told me that I need to change the rear end as well as the drive shaft. But I'm pretty sure you can slap a JDM turbo II motor in a gxl. Now I put a limited slip from a gxl in so all I would need to change is the dive shaft right? Please if any one knows if and how it can be possible let me know, base model is slow as doo doo i was beaten going up hill by a Eagle Talon that only had a pooper and intake. But at the next light I launched three car spaces ahead of him then missed third. thanks

Listen to the rotary. You'll need to swap over EVERTYHING under the car for it to be safe. Go and read the Tech section at Kevin's site:

http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/

There is a write up on everything you'll need for the conversion.

And the NA rear end isn't as sturdy as the TII rear end, its why he's saying that. If you decided to use the TII tranny you'd have to get a custom driveshaft since the splines on the TII tranny are different then the NA tranny. Its QUITE possible. I sugguest you search.

Wtf is a pooper?

(FYI 87 base is different then a GXL)

The stock NA is more of a road race car than a drag car.

If you want to drag, spend a few bucks & do it right.
If you don't need luxury, stripping down the weight will make performance improvement.
Practicing your driving skills will also make a big performance improvement.
