87-->89 intake conversion:u should give this a read
just found this out this evening..i'm in the midst of doing the conversion, and i ran into one of those shitty little details nobody knew about before[that i talked to,or forgot to tell me].i finally got the last part i was waiting for,put the fuel rail and stuff on,and went to install my "middle"intake section..well,surprise,surprise.the pulsation damper on the 86-88 is [apparently]quite a bit bigger in diameter.big enough to make it impossible to get the manifold on.grr .of course,i just bought a new one from mazdatrix,to the tune of 124 bucks!should have gone with the 89+.so,you might wanna keep that in mind,if your in the process of doing this.also, anybody got any ideas?the way i see it[unless i feel like grinding away at my manifol, and it feels pretty thin there..],i have 2 options.1.get a banjo bolt, replace the pd with it,and install a pd somewhere else in the system[any idea where i could get one that would be well suited for this?]2.go out and buy myself a 89+ fuel rail[i'm running out of money, thou].in any case,i might be selling mine real soon...anybody interested?make me a offer, its been installed but has not seen any fuel.new price is 124.51 from mazdatrix.thanks.

i ran into that. you can do one of 3 things
1. buy the 89+ rail
2. use a banjo bolt (one of the other 86-88 na bolts will work)
and either not have the damper, or run it remote (the 91-94 mpv has one that has hose ends on it)
3. take the plastic cover off your damper, double gasket the intake, and grind a little bit
