How stiff is your clutch pedal???

Mine is really really stiff..I have to step on it all the waaay in to engage and disengage the clutch. I was wondering if there is any quick fix ideas or something to make it smoother.. I want it soft enough so that I dont have to step on it hard.. It looks kind of ridiculous because the carpet now has a print of the clutch pedal on it.
If any of you know how please help me out..

Thanks

Damn man, i dont know, did you check the fluid in your master cylinder? (i think thats what it is), bc RX7 has a hydrolic clutch and should be pretty easy to engage and disengage.

Well...maybe it's not that stiff but I still want it to engage further off the ground.. I do have to make the pedal touch the carpet to disengage/engage it.. Any ideas??

If you look under the dash, there is an adjustment for the clutch. There is threads on it and all you have to do is turn that rod. It will loosen/stiffen up the clutch.

One thing though, you should make sure that there is a little bit of play in the clutch, because if there isn't, then the clutch will not engage all the way and it will burn up.

Good luck,

Brandon

Classic....

The pedal is self adjusting and the hydrolics are working if you can operate it at all really.

Hydrolic clutches get stiffer and the throw to dis-enguage becomes longer as it wears out.

Order a new clutch from www.cluthmasters.com.

Take the weekend and do it.

you will notice that the new clutch/ throwout bearing/ etc... will be very VERY loose compared to your clutch now.

Its VERY easy to replace a clutch if you have the tools.

Make sure you get a wheel for your drill and disc-sander attachment with a "grinding" grade paper for it. Make sure you grind the WHOLE flywheel enguagement surface.

Go to Norther tool and Equpiment and get a tranny jack attachment for your hydro-jack.

It fits into the peg hole that your lift disc fits into. (wonderful tool!!)

Anbout $40-60 bucks. AND WORTH IT!

Makes the job take 1/2 to 1 full day instead of all weekend.!
