87-88 or 89-91 turbo motor
I blew my '90 turbo motor. 133k milies I can't get a 90 motor right now .. but i can get 88 j-spec turbo motors all day long . I want to run a haltech on it with streetport, bigger turbo. etc.
The OMP in mechanical on '88's to work with the haltech. or premix.
Will this motor work in my '90 FC turbo with the harness, (for now untill haltech comes in. )
I still have my old motor, i could switch everthing over if it works. I just wanted newer sensors.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Maybe you should check with some other importers. Now it seems the 89-91 motors are easier to get than the 87-8 motors, because there's more of them available. They go for the same price usually. Last time I checked with Nippon motors in CA, the 89-91 was in stock and went for $750 plus shipping.
To answer your question, you can use it, but you might lose some power and idle quality as the computer struggles witht eh older engine's lack of compression(s4 had lower ratios than s5). OTher than that, you can swap out all your stuff to it and it should be fine. You can swap the front cover to keep your stock OMP.
THe 87-88 turbos and manifolds are less efficient, so you could run into a problem with that on your new engine too, but you could just ue your old 89+ manifold and turbo.
Youll have to swap your throttle body to the 88 upper intake, because the manifolds are different bolt patterns/runner patterns.
