86 Sport with TII drivetrain parts?!

A while back I was working under my car (transmission specifically) and I could swear that the tranny had two drain and fill plugs. I was talking to someone else (Agent_D) who has a few base models and a sport. He said his transmission was a bit different than the others in that it had a bit of a whine to it in 5th gear around 60+. I have the same thing, and I was wondering if this was a tII transmission trait or what?

I think not...

I have worked on many a nonturbo, including some sports, in fact I have an 87 sitting downstairs right now and parted out another 87 sport last month...no turbo parts here. ****, some of them, to my surprise, didnt even have LSD, you think theye gonna have a damn turbo tranny? besides you cant make a turbo tranny work with the NA DS or rearend, or flywheel or clutch.

i dont think its a TII tranny, mine makes the same noise as the upgraded trannies from GT3, when you drive the cars in GT3 with anything other than stock tranny it whines, my 86 sport does that in 5th gear at any RPM.

also, it is a know fact not all sports came with LSD, only some models, thank god i got one of em

Hey I got a production model chart from my buddy at Irvine that has a break down of all engine, rear end, tranny models to body models for series 4 FCs and there was not a single Sport made before 6/87 that had a LSD from the factory.

So I think the cars that you saw with one, were either factory mutants or after the fact installs of a LSD.

*edit
and they most certinly didn't get the T2 tranny.

I'll try and scan and post it

just look at it dude the t2 tranny is shaped way different
its kinda squarish and ribbed casing whereas the na is smaller rounded and only has a couple structural ribs in it.

Wow so if we go one wineing then mine is definetly different.... Youll find most sports are modded more often than most NA's I just recently saw one with an S5 AFM on it and a resonator for a main cat....it looked decent for 1500 dollars
