86 rx7 turbo 2 (knock control unit)

I was wondering if i dont have the knock control unit will it affect my car. I have looking everywhere on the passenger side under the dash and all i can find is just the wires or adapter the connect onto the knock control unit but no knock control unit at all.. The reason im asking is because i'm putting a power fc into my fc that i bought from banzai racing and i need that knock control unit.....

No, you do not need the knock control unit. You only need the wire to the knock sensor. After installing the PFC you can remove the knock control unit from the car. As I already told you via email just identify the wire to the sensor and connect the KS wire from the adapter to it. Done.

It is also not an absolute requirement to even have the knock sensor in the car. Eliminating it does not prevent the car from running, driving, etc.

i have connect the KS wire to the knock sensor and still the car is still not running. I mean the car does start up but only for a few seconds (like 3 to 5 second then dies again)... Any other clues......

Could be any number of things, just to name a few...

FD base map being used
Wrong MAP sensor selected
COR wire installed wrong

What it is not....... is anything to do with the knock unit.

i was re reading banzai how to install power fc and i was reading this (Remove AFM (Air Flow Meter) and attach Air Filter directly to TID (Turbo Inlet Duct), will that be the problem that is causing my car from not starting cause i did everything correct....

no

your wiring is wrong (again, circuit opening relay wire needs to be correct on the fuel pump won't run). Otherwise the map you are using is not correct for the setup you have. It may require tuning beyond any base map for it to even run. Such is the nature of modified cars.

check for vacuum leaks? my car did the same thing... i would crank it crank it, it would start idle for 2-3 secs then die again, it was because fuel built up in the engine that it eventually compensated for the extra air going into it, just something to look at...
