86 Rx7 problem
Well this is my first post here after doing a lot of searching the forum.
I have a 1986 RX7 (my first rotary). I have put a new radator, water pump, thermostate, new plug, and battery in the thing. That solved my temp problem. It sits at about 1/4 on the gauge. So the wanting to over heat problem is solved.
Now on to the other problems. The car will not start after driving some times. I drove it to work today and then about a hour later i went to start it to run to the store and it wouldnt start. It has done this to me more then once and is very annoying. Seems if i let it sit for a long time meaning 2 hours or more, i can go out and it will start right up. Is this a flooding problem or what?
The other problem is the hessitation. I have read many things on the 3800 hessitation issue. It will still accelrate all the way to red line but from about 3800 - 5500 it pulses and slightly bucks at wide open throttle. If i do it a quater to half it is not very noticeable. A friend of mine says it may be a cold solder on the ecu. I am gonna check the tps and see is that needs to be set better. It also wants to stall when warmed up so i think that couls be a little adjustment.
Thanks in advance

No-start on hot start-up usually = flooding. Injectors need to be replaced/rebuilt. Temporary cure is fuel pump shut-off switch. Use the Search to find the schematic/ explanation. Search the 3800 hesitation and you'll find the info there. It's all there.

well the probable cause for the not starting after it has ran is due to whats called the hot start problem, pretty well known, if you do a search for that you will find a ton of things. Anyways it is usually caused by a) weak compression b)leaky injectors. The only true way to fix the compression problem is a rebuild however if it is leaky injectors then you can get your injectors cleaned at www.cruzinperformance.com for 12 bucks a piece. the hessitation problem could be tps, weak grounds or just bad all together, or it could be your secondary actuators not oppening (getting stuck). I'm not an N/A guy so there should be others chiming in soon but you should take a look at these and hopefully it should help you out. Good luck.
