Do you have to hold the gas pedal to keep the car running? Does AWS work?

Any trouble codes?
Vac leaks?
Check voltages at ECU connectors coming from:
Water thermo sensor
AFM
Boost sensor (yes you have one)
Ambient air pressure sensor
Intake air temp (in AFM)
Intake air temp (in plenum chamber)

Spark present on all plugs?

dont know about the trouble codes, water thermo was replaced not to long ago, suspected the afm but it starts so idk, boost sensor is actually a map i believe on the na models, shouldnt have any vac leaks cause all i have is the line for the map and all new gaskets from mazda. Thanks

aws accelerated warm up system right? isnt that just the resistor on the back of the intake plenum or does that also involve the subzero thing cause i took that off.

the pulsation damper. It's a very very common part to be leaking on FC's. Mine was leaking all over the place, screwing up the fuel pressure. all of the idle systems were trying to idle the car, and it would try, but it was bleeding and it didnt know to adjust for it.

Try ohming out the AFM according to the service manual. You mentioned that sometime you have to hold the gas and sometimes you don't which means that if the AFM ohms out fine, that's probably not the problem. On my S5 NA, the fuel pump switch in the AFM was broken, so when the car was started it would die right away every time. Also for S5 AFMs, it should be level, so much such that it is sitting level, or that might cause the car to run rich.
