86 rx7 cooling issue

Ok people. I have just put me a radiator, efan and water pump on my 86 GXL. I did this because I was having a cooling problem before. It seemed to fix it for the most part, but I am still having a little issue. I can drive my car around town and it does great, no buzzer, and it will pull some coolant from resivoir as needed. But, when I hit the highway, My buzzer will begin to come on and it will eventually push enough over to resivoir to start coming out. Car doesnt get over 1/3rd on temp guage. Let it sit and cool down, and it will pull some back out. I have noticed that I can tighten my alt/waterpump belt so that I cant turn WP with my hand, and it stays good, until I hit the highway. After the 10 miles on highway from house to work, my WP belt is still kinda tight, but I can turn the WP with my hand, then the trip home and I can easily turn it by hand. My questions are, could this belt loosening be the reason for my coolant backing across to resiovior on highway? Could it be turning WP enough to keep car cool for the 10 miles, but not fast enough to keep the coolant flowing right? I ordered a yoohoo belt from Pinnapple today, they already shipped it out. I have been wanting to get one since I removed my Smog pump a while ago.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I'm having sort of a related problem. I have an '87 with the 13B and it's using coolant like a mad-man! I've checked it for leaks and it's not leaking. But this morning when I left for work it was doing it's little "flooding act" where it get really flooded and doesn't even want to run. But anyways, as I got on the highway I looked in my rearview mirror and I saw this enormous cloud of white smoke behind me. To my knowledge, white smoke means you're burning coolant, and this scares me! So, I actually have two questions. First, what do I do to stop my car from burning coolant? And second, what do I do to get my car to stop flooding with fuel? Because honestly, I'm getting sick of having to pull my fuse to evacuate all the raw fuel everytime I want to start my car. Oh, by the way, I just barely changed the waterpump cause the bearings were done for. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Mine isnt using coolant, it is pushing it over into resivoir. No air bubles in coolant, no hard starts, or flooding, and no smoke at all, exhaust just smells like exhaust. I can seem to run it around town fine, it is when I hit the highway, I ordered the belt, hoping that on the highway, the belt is slipping some and causing it to do this, but I guess we will see.

the_berner, sounds like you have blown coolant seals, which unfortunatly means rebuild time. Mabey you can squeeze a little more life out of it with some stop leak.

Hey, thanks guys...even though it's bad news. But That's what I thought it was. Can you think of anything that will help the flooding problem with the fuel? It would be greatly appriciated. Thanks again for your help.
