Unhappy '86 Problems, any ideas?

I'm having a big problem with my 86 na, it has a rebuilt street ported motor with about 30,000 miles on it, safc, crane cams hi 6 ignition, full exhaust, runs on premix, and has most of the vacuum lines and such removed. About a month ago i was driving home from my girlfriend's house when it overheated very badly, i replaced the thermostat, radiator cap and fan belt, and everything seemed fine for a couple of days, took it for a drive to the movies and it started pouring on the way back, so i think it might have sucked in some water, and then later that night it felt like it was losing power and it started smoking and completely died, it was dark, though so i couldn't tell what color the smoke was, and then it would crank fine and just wouldn't catch. It seemed like it was getting plenty of fuel and air, but there wasn't any spark, so i got it into a shop and they told me that i have extremely low compression(something like 30 & 21) and told me this was because of the premix. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on with this? The car ran fine up until it overheated, and it wasn't sparking at all when I checked it, Does premix really ruin your compression?

Nothing to do with premix...

Get a GOOD compression test from someone you can trust before you make any conclusions. If you overheated, you MAY have coolant o-ring damage which would result in the car eating coolant with no visible leaks.

That actually makes some sense, the guy sounded like he didn't know what he was talking about, saying it wasn't getting lubrication & my housings were probably scored up pretty bad, is a compression test on a rotary different from a piston engine?
