High/weird idle, haven't been solved for a year

Hello everyone,

As i've posted many times my idle is a little weird....

if i let off the throttle high, the idle will be at 1300+ and it will stay there.....
however if i put it in gear, let the idle drop below 1000 when i try to make my car stall... it will idle to around 800.....

i've adjusted my TPS and cleaned my BAC (it actually did this for BOTH my BACs)

i suspect it might be a fast idle cam thing, but not sure...

what should i do? i want to get my car back to spec at idle for smog...

Jonathan

ya know my cars runs strong but its got a million little quarks...i must admit my problem is simliar....my cars cold idle hits 3k...then for about 30sec drops down to 1500 and will stay there for about 20min or so...i can drive the car all around town..but it doesnt drop until like...the car has been driven for a little whiles...hell i drove all the way to work and (15miles highway) and it barely droped to 1300...then after a whiles it will hit 900...and finally to 750-800 SOLID....its gotta be the cold idle start and its going bye bye this weekend hopefully....along with those extra thrtottle plates....

but if anyone has some acual answers please let us know....

To start with:
Is the coolant circuit through the cold start fast idle thermowax flowing?
Is the Thermowax working?
Is the throttle screw the rides on the fast idle cam set right?
Is the main throttle stop set right? (initial set procedure)
Is the throttle clean & lubed?
Is the throttle cable clean & lubed?
Is the throttle shaft worn? (slack in the pivot)
Is the idle let down dash pot working & set right?

The trickier stuff:
An intermittant vac leak. (like from a crack in the inlet duct)
Weak ground from the bellhousing to the firewall.
Erratic - dirty or almost worn out TPS.

well, would the easiest way to get rid of this is to take out the cold start thermowax and fast idle? (i saw it on ReTed's web from the TB mod how to do it)

http://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/TBM/tbm.html

but i don't want to take out the secondary plates

what are the cons of taking out the cold start system? (thermowax, fast idle cam, etc..)

The thermo-wax fast idle is normally a trouble free feature.
I removed it only to cap off the 3/8" coolant circuit that runs it.
The only time I have ever been towed in the Rex is when that hose under the UIM failed.

The secondary main throttle is of course needed, but the secondary double throttle is only an idiot proofing feature.
