'86 non-turbo body and parts... worth it?
'86 non-turbo body and parts... worth it?
I recently got an offer to buy a stock '86 RX7 body with all parts except engine and exhaust for $350. I've got an '86 GXL with a 13BT swap + exhaust that I'm starting to fix up for potential showing next year. Lots of aesthetics in my ride are shot. The only mechanics in my ride that need replacing so far is the tubing that goes from the turbo to the cat and possibly the wheel bearings. All the pieces on this body seem to be in decent shape. So do you guys think it's worth it to buy, or should I just hound down the exact pieces I need over the internet instead?
$350 for an 86? Hell, why not? Take out what you need, and part the rest of it out on forums. Get your money back by selling the shell etc etc.
By the way the circle lights that you need are s5 tail lights right? Might be better if you switch that up.

Yeah, the s5 ones. Thanks for the tip!
With the body I found, it covers probably about 2/3 of the parts I need. My only big issue is finding a place to keep it. I stay in an apartment in a city. Gotta convince the landlord to let me use the garage space that he rarely uses!
I have some things I've left out of my signature that I'm looking for too. I'm still undecided.
The up-side to getting the engineless car would be to compare its parts to mine and exchange between the two, whether I was already in the market for them or not. It does have a bunch of the interior pieces my car needs, and a few parts around the wheels I need too.
The down-side would be that it doesn't have all the parts I need, like the T2 hood, the turbo-to-cat pipe, carpeting, lenses, etc.
I think the bottom line ends up being where I can store this extra body (I live in a city apartment with 1 garage spot that my landlord's got but never uses).
