86 Gxl

I'm thinking about buying an 86 GXL for $1800. New clutch and a full race exhaust. The engine has 130,000 miles on it. How many miles can I expect out of this car?

Mine has close to that, mine is like 125k, and it runs very very strong. It all depends on how it was treated, but Id say the average life would be around 160k miles, although I know af many pushing the 200k mark, and still running stong.

200,000+ if the engine has good compression (get it checked). Then change the oil RELIGIOUSLY as well as all other maintenece and the car will love you back. Also, be sure that the 6-ports are working (showing the car hasn't been babied and building up carbon).

TONS of TLC as well as a redline every now and then will make it last as long as you want .
