86 FC engine question

Hey guys

We just bought 86 GXL, european version and engine is little bit different than my 88 NA motor. I don`t remember other NA motors, so i have to ask.

Are there in 86's in USA 4 port NA motors ?
I do have 6 port, but this one is 4 port. And ignition looks different than on my car.

Thanks

I would think the 86 should be the same as the 88...

Pretty sure all NA series 4 engines are the same over here (6 port)

All of the European n/a's were 4 port, and the ignition is imply a distributur, like you would find on any of the 12A 1st gens. Very simple, very reliable, very cheap to fix. It uses a distributor to control the ignition timing, and has a pickup on the distributor for crank position, which triggers the ECU to fire the injectors. This is one of the few cases where the U.S. got one of the best engines from a car sold all over the world.

What do you want to know about that engine? I dont know too much about the exact differences, but should be able to help you with what I do know.
