86-88 TII For $1000....Should I?

O.K. heres the deal.
Its at a used car dealership. The previous owner tried to take some kind of a switch off of the feul pump to send feul directly to the engine and now it wont start. I was thinking this was some kind of feul regulator so it wont flood right? So the car would be getting flooded and thats why it wont start right? Other than that the car is great. Blue interior? in a blaze red '7. New costom exaust from cats back. New tiers, And maybe a TO4E? Well the sheild is off anyways and it looks bigger than the stock turbo. It could be stock. Emissions were taken off i.e. air pump etc. The sheild off the turbo is the heat sheild. Should I get it? I love the car but I don't have the money yet. You could help me out by buying parts off me GTU. Anything but the interior. Give me your input please.

Sure, why not? No way to tell really what the prob is untill you can get into it. If it was really just a switch issue then you are probably ok. Buy it and when I get to Austin in a few months, I'll help you work on it.

do you have a mechanic that you can look at it for you if you done have the time. I thought there was a place in Houston, but i know there is a place in Dallas that works on them.

Actually there are two real good places here in Austin that do it but you have to pay a good deal just to get it looked at. If I can get the dealership to move the car alittle I can look at it and check everything out.

O.K. Big Woogie,
Will do. Whats so bad about protech? I haven't been there myself but thats one I was thinking about. You wouldn't want an engine for $500, tranny for $500, or a rear diff for $250? I need 'em gone so I can get the TII. If you want anything let me know. I gotta 90 GTU for parts, except the interior.

nah man, looking for T2 parts at the moment(T2 conversion on an na cause i couldnt find a T2 in austin, kinda ironic huh?).

Protech has a pretty bad reputation with some people on the forum, and some of their work looks a little amateur. Plus, they dont really deal too much with rotaries, its mostly hondas

MZM Performance is probably the only REAL Rotary shop/mechanic in austin. The owner is at most of the Rx7 club meets and owns a couple of bad *** FD's as well. plus they know what they are doing. Send me a PM if ya need a hand.

unless its a total POS, get it.

$1000 is a great deal. The hood alone is worth $300

T2s are in pretty high demand

My friend sold a T2 with zero compression in the rear rotor and 147k for $1200. It had nothing special except leather

i say go for it. if nothing else, you can part it out if it wont ever work again. 1000 bucks sounds like a pretty good deal to me. i paid $250 for mine, but im having to do a lot of work to get to be a proper T2 again.

goooooo for it more than likley the switch they were talking about was one to keep it from flooding. look under the steering column and see if any of the wires are going to a yellow box (relay) has been cut. hot tip! dont try to start it on the lot if the wires have been cut, use this as a tool to help you get the price down. ..search fuel-cut off switch and you will see the directions on how to fix it. good luck. Peace ,ex...

Definately get it!!! There are too many RX7s sitting around and not being driven. Go for it and when you fix that little switch and have a perfectly good car for only $1000, you will be sooooo happy.
